This includes but is not limited to the cost of fuel, growing demand for food, and extreme weather conditions.
This paper suggests some ways that food security in the Arctic can be addressed and the importance of fixing this problem.

The market prices for many goods in the Arctic are three times the amount in Southern Canada, even with the average income in the North being almost one quarter of the South.
Addressing the issue of food insecurity in the North requires the government to first address the problem of colonialism and prioritize northern communities at the same level the rest of Canada is
