The Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission
- Following the passage of the Human Rights Act in 1963, Nova Scotia would establish its first Human Rights Commission in 1967 to uphold the rights outlined in the Act.
- The Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission has two main roles: the first is providing a process for human rights dispute resolution in cases of discrimination at an individual or systemic level; and the second is working to eliminate barriers to prevent discrimination from even taking place, which they do so through education, training, public engagement, and policy development.
- The Commission was, and continues to be, instrumental in evolving and modernizing the Human Rights Act in Nova Scotia.
