Kanatewat et al. v. James Bay Development Corp.
- In November of 1973, the Superior Court of Quebec ruled in favour of the Inuit and Cree people, which led to the creation of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, which was signed in 1975.
- The decision was made to halt construction of a hydroelectric dam in James Bay in favour of the Cree and Inuit and forced the two parties to discuss and negotiate.
