Canada and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development
- The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) was founded in 1961 by several countries, with Canada and the United States being two of them.
- In 1947 the OECD was formed to help administer Canadian and American aid under the Marshall Plan to help rebuild Europe after the Second World War.
- Today, the OECD is comprised of 38 member countries with the goal of promoting economic growth to increase economic stability among its members.
- Currently the members of the OECD make up 62.2% of the world economy, 61.2% of the world merchandise imports and 17.5% of the world's population.
