Softwood Lumber Agreement between the US and Canada
- In 2006, the Canadian Government and the American Government collaborated on the Softwood Lumber Agreement (SLA), which helped provide stability for the respective industries on either side of the border, but it expired on October 12, 2015.
- The SLA was a pivotal policy made between former Prime Minister Stephen Harper and President George W. Bush as it was the first time in over two decades that a resolution was made on a dispute that has long strained the Canada-US relationship.
