The Quebec Discrimination in Employment Act
- This is the Province of Quebec's anti-discrimination in employment legislation, which became law in July 1964 and came into effect in September 1964.
- This legislation protects employees from being discriminated against based on race, colour, sex, religion, national extraction, or social origin in the pursuit of or in their employment.
- The Province of Quebec was one of the last provinces to implement anti-discrimination laws, as several Quebec governments resisted the policy.
- However, as a result of efforts by the Montreal JLC committee (the United Council for Human Rights) and the Quebec Federation of Labour, the province passed the Act Respecting Discrimination in Employment in 1964.
