The Nunavut Human Rights Act
  • The Nunavut Human Rights Act became law on November 5, 2003, when it was passed by the Nunavut Legislative Assembly.
  • The Act protects individuals on the basis of race, colour, ancestry, ethnic origin, citizenship, place of origin, religion and creed, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, marital and family status, pregnancy, lawful source of income, gender expression and gender identity, and pardoned conviction.
  • This act prohibits discrimination and harassment when looking for work, at work, when accessing goods/services/facilities/contracts that are accessible to the public, when renting to trying to rent a house, and in publishing or displaying information or written material.
