Canada Imposes a Visa on Mexico | The Brian Mulroney Institute of Government

With Mexican claims tripling between 2005 and 2009, the Government of Canada, under Prime Minister Harper, decided to impose a Visa requirement on Mexican Nationals.
The intended goal was to bring in Mexicans seeking refuge before others who may not require the service as much.
This was later removed in 2016 by the Trudeau Government.
