This federal approach to Public Health in Canada was updated following the SARS outbreak in 2003 to have a more collaborative government response to public health events.
This strategy was updated in three main areas: building the Public Health Agency, creating a Chief Public Health Officer for Canada, and developing a Pan-Canadian Public Health Network.
