SCHOLARSHIPS
Student scholarships, bursaries, and experiential internships are a significant and defining feature of the Public Policy and Governance program at StFX. The following provides an outline and summary of student funding opportunities that will be available to students in 2024–25.
The Right Honourable Brian Mulroney Scholarships
All 1st-year, full-time undergraduate PGOV students enrolling from high school.
Minimum 90% average and demonstrated StFX qualities of leadership and service to community. Open to Canadian residents.
Guy R. Savard Bursary
Open to students from rural Quebec enrolling directly from high school/CEGEP and taking courses associated with Public Policy and Governance Program. Must demonstrate financial need.
David and Hildegarde Mahoney Scholarship for a US Student
Sobeys Entrance Scholarship
All 1st-year, full-time undergraduate PGOV students enrolling from high school.
Minimum 80% average and demonstrated StFX qualities of leadership and service to community. Open to Canadian residents.
Irving Family Scholarships
All 1st-year, full-time undergraduate PGOV students enrolling from high school.
Minimum 85% average and demonstrated StFX qualities of leadership and service to community. Open to Canadian residents.
Mila Mulroney Scholarship for African Nova Scotian Students
All African Nova Scotian and Indigenous Canadian, 1st-year, full-time undergraduate PGOV students enrolling from high school.
Minimum 70% average and demonstrated StFX qualities of leadership and service to community.
Dahdaleh Scholarship for Indigenous Students
All Indigenous Nova Scotian, 1st-year, full-time undergraduate PGOV students enrolling from high school.
Minimum 70% average and demonstrated StFX qualities of leadership and service to community. Open to Indigenous Nova Scotian students.
Scotiabank Entrance Scholarship
All 1st-year, full-time undergraduate PGOV students enrolling from high school.
Minimum 85% average and demonstrated StFX qualities of leadership and service to community. Open to all nationalities.
Michael Mulroney Scholarship
All 1st-year, full-time undergraduate PGOV students enrolling from high school.
Minimum 90% average and demonstrated StFX qualities of leadership and service to community.
Open to all nationalities.
Sister Peggy Butts Bursary
Available to students enrolling directly from high school.
Thomas O’Shea Scholarship
All 1st-year, full-time undergraduate PGOV students enrolling from high school.
Minimum 90% average and demonstrated StFX qualities of leadership and service to community.
Open to all nationalities.
Bogdanka Pivnički Scholarship
All 1st-year, full-time undergraduate PGOV students enrolling from high school.
Minimum 90% average and demonstrated StFX qualities of leadership and service to community.
Open to all nationalities.
The Weston Family Scholarship for International Exchange
This award provides funding for student international exchanges. Awards would support one semester at an international partner university program offering courses equivalent to those at StFX and thus eligible for course credit at StFX. Awards are valued at up to $6,000 each for students enrolled in a BA with a major or minor in PGOV. Students may re-apply to receive the award in multiple years.
J. Armand Bombardier Student Internships
These awards will support students enrolled in the StFX Public Policy and Governance (PGOV) program to gain practical work experience in areas related to public policy and governance. Internships will be awarded to students enrolled in a BA with a major or minor in PGOV at StFX with preference given to 3rd year PGOV students who will be entering their 4th year of undergraduate study at the conclusion of the internship.
Samuel Wakim, QC Academic Scholarship
This award is available to a student enrolling in the PGOV program.
Joyce Family Bursaries
Awards are based on student financial need and range from $1,000 to $3,000. First-year recipients must be enrolled in the PGOV program. Bursaries will be renewable in second, third, fourth years for students that have declared a major or minor in PGOV. Bursaries are also available to students already enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts program and taking courses in Public and Governance.
Bloomfield Family – UN Service Learning Bursary
This award does not accept individual applications. The four Bloomfield Family – UN Service Learning bursaries are awarded directly to the Model UN Society each year. The bursary funds are used by the Model UN Society to offset the cost of travel for students participating in the Model UN.
