This Act lays out the regulations put in place that allow the Governor in Council to protect and enforce regulations which prevent individuals from mining/digging/disrupting land in Canadian territories.
Through collaboration with territorial and Indigenous governments, the Government of Canada is working towards building a sustainable and science-based approach to the collection of oil and gas in the North.
Critical minerals that can be used to help Canada move towards a more green economy lay heavily in the territories and therefore requires a sustainable resource collection plan.
