Partnership (CAN-MX Relations)

Forging a New Strategic Partnership Between Canada and Mexico. Special Report

  • The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce discusses the importance of Canada and Mexico's bilateral relationship, as both countries work deeply with the US, and do not maximize the similarities between each other.
  • CIGI provides recommendations for the two countries to maximize economic profit from one another.

The Canada Mexico Partnership

  • Launching in October 2004, following the 60th anniversary of Canada-Mexico diplomatic relations and 10 years of the North American Free Trade Agreement, the Canada Mexico Partnership (CMP) was created.
  • The CMP meets once a year to discuss the partnership between Canada and Mexico and their working groups together (forestry, environment, trade, etc).
