Renewing the Comprehensive Land Claims Policy
  • On September 15, 2014, the Government of Canada began revising the Comprehensive Claims Policy after years of demand from Aboriginal groups.
  • This revised policy puts a focus on addressing Section 35 of the Constitution Act, which highlights Aboriginal Rights and attempts to be a starting place for discussions with Indigenous partners and mending the fractured relationship between the Crown, Indigenous peoples, and non-Indigenous peoples as well.
