Indian Land Surrenders in Ontario

  • This is Robert J. Surtees' report along with Indian and Northern Affairs Canada Department in 1985 on the Indian Land Surrender Agreements in Ontario (also known as the Upper Canada Land Surrenders) from 1763–1867.
  • This document goes into detail regarding all of the land-surrenders, the history behind them (with a timeline), and maps representing where the treaties covered.

The Treaty of Albany

  • This is the official historic document of the Great Peace treaty of Montreal (also known as the Treaty of Albany), which was the peace agreement between the French and the Five Nations Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) that ended a century of violence.
  • This agreement allowed the Haudenosaunee to trade freely with the French, gave the French the ability to settle in Detroit and made the Iroquois promise to stay neutral in the England v.
